It's a technique that gives new meaning to the term ''feeling had.'' Go to Full Review Sheila Benson Los Angeles Times Mar 27, 2019
The only diversion is keeping track of the shameless advertising plugs that dot the film, like toadstools after a rain. Go to Full Review Pat Graham Chicago Reader Feb 28, 2019

The arm-wrestling championship eats up about a third of the movie, which is a lot of grunting, snarling and perspiring. All things being relative, this beats what passes for drama in the rest of the movie. Go to Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn May 13, 2021

This movie is so out of control and has some unsettling moments between the father and son. But it is entertaining. Go to Full Review Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn May 13, 2021

Possibly the only big-budget, truck-driving, arm-wrestling, father-son bonding film that will ever exist, Over the Top matches muscles with willpower, grips you tightly and sends you exactly where its title suggests... OVER THE TOP! I went into this expecting a film about arm-wrestling truckers, with a subplot about a father trying to win back his son's love. Instead, I got a film about a father trying to win back his son's love, with a subplot about arm-wrestling truckers. It's glorious 80s Cannon excess, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Even with the world against you, there's always someone there to pick you back up. When you want something, you gotta take it. The day I run out of Cannon films to love is a day I don't want to live to see. God bless you, Golan and Globus. See more Bruce N @brucenorris30 Jan 23, 2026 1980s, diesel truck, Sylvester stallone.
