Kate is a single, working-class mother of three who's hired to clean a luxury yacht that belongs to Leonardo -- a selfish, spoiled and wealthy Mexican playboy. After unjustly firing Kate, Leonardo falls off the boat and wakes up with no memory of who he is. To get payback, Kate shows up at the hospital and convinces the confused amnesiac that they're married. As Leonardo tries to get used to manual labor and his new family, Kate starts to wonder how long she can keep fooling her fake husband.

Critics Consensus

Overboard makes poor use of the ever-charming Anna Faris -- and chooses questionable source material -- to offer a remake that fails to clear the fairly low bar set by the original.

Comedy is very binary. People are either laughing or their not... If you're in a room where a comedy is playing and nobody is laughing you can hear the lack of space.

To make matters worse, the chemistry between Faris and Derbez is non-existent and makes you yearn, in a way you never thought possible, for the glory days of Hawn and Russell.

A toothless comedy, although the stars certainly do their best to lift the material.

You'll find yourself cringing at some of the attempts at gags, with some moments really only evoking a pity laughs as the film moves towards its predictable finale.

What’s with all the bad reviews? I loooved the gender swap with the original, the chemistry between the two leads and how it mirrored the original without being redundant. It wasn’t slapstick or laugh-out-loud funny - sure - but it was such a charming story with lots of humor. Such an uplifting and pleasant story with one of my favorite end credits scenes in a film - ever. It’s hilarious. Adorable film overall. How can people not love it?

⭐ Nota final: 7,5 / 10.

Watch the original. This was not remotely funny or believable or even a fun watch. Didn’t care for any of the characters. It’s too bad.
