In this continuation of the television series "Firefly," a group of rebels travels the outskirts of space aboard their ship, Serenity, outside the reach of the Alliance, a sinister regime that controls most of the universe. After the crew takes in Simon (Sean Maher) and his psychic sister, River (Summer Glau), whom he has just rescued from Alliance forces, they find themselves being pursued by the Operative (Chiwetel Ejiofor), an Alliance agent who will stop at nothing to find them.

Serenity is the continuation of the tv series Firefly that combines action and witty dialogue to make a fun space adventure movie. It has the same lovable cast as the tv series that gets a chance to shine in a feature length film. Overall if you loved the series you will definitely enjoy this like I did. One of the best sci-fi movies I’ve ever seen. The mix of characters is spectacular, and so is the world built around them! Twenty years later and I’m introducing it to my children, who also loved it.

The story and pacing are excellent, as is the cast chemistry and casting overall. I have to highlight in specific Nathan Fillion's "Mal" interacting with his crew, and Chiwetel Ejiofor's "Operative" dynamic with "Mal," as they carry a lot of the weight to make every scene compelling. They play their parts precisely. The dirty, grungy, make-do world our heroes come up through, contrasted with the clean, militaristic, and technologically superior Alliance seeking control and compliance, play beautifully to create a rich world with incredible depth. Being on the Serenity feels grimy, and like it could fall from the sky at any moment. Locations feel palpable and visceral. Playful and goofy at times (this is a Western + space epic, after all), and some underlying themes borrowed from other stories, but polished heavily with strong acting and stellar action sequences. You will be on the edge of your seat, you will be shocked, you will laugh and cry, and by the end you'll be wanting more.
