Melissa M @Lisey Jul 28, 2026 This movie got a lot of mixed reviews. Tony danza is underrated as an actor. Even though there are some adult themes in this movie. For the most part it's a film that anybody can watch. Dana ashbrook, Wallace Shawn, & Catherine Hicks also stars in the film. In the film Doug Simpson is someone ordinary guy raising 2 daughters. One is kind of nerdy. However after he comes back from a business trip. She's transformed from geek to Chic. All of a sudden she's extremely popular. He's always been kind of a hovercraft parent. But now he is beyond overprotective. He can't help it. The beginning of the movie is a little confusing. But thanks to Doug's narration he explains the whole over-the-top situation. Doug goes into therapy & tries to do everything the therapist suggests. But some things don't work out so well. It's not a bad movie. Some parts are actually pretty funny. She's out of control is a film that anyone can enjoy. It's not a classic but it's definitely a cult classic. Many classic films from that era, like "The Wizard of Oz," "The Wiz," and "Little Shop of Horrors," have enjoyed a lasting appeal despite mixed reviews from critics, creating a sense of nostalgia that can make older films feel more enjoyable. However, in this case, "She's Out of Control" fails to live up to those expectations. Unfortunately, it lacks the vibrant energy and creativity that you might associate with beloved films from that time. The writing is noticeably weak, and the direction feels uninspired. It’s hard to believe this film would resonate with audiences, as it falls short on many fronts. From the disjointed plot to the lackluster performances, it’s clear that "She's Out of Control" deserves a spot among the less favorable films of its time. The editing appears haphazard, almost as if it were pieced together without much thought. Ultimately, I cannot recommend this film; it feels more like a burden than an enjoyable viewing experience. Save your time and seek out films that truly capture the magic of the past. See more Sep 17, 2019 Really good 80ies father / daughter relationship movie. This movie definetely is underrated. If people would watch this in theatres today people would love it. Such sweat charme and humor. The comedy scenes all feel really natural and not so forced like modern movies. Love it!
