When a Spirit Halloween Store opens in a deserted strip mall, three middle school friends who think they've outgrown trick or treating make a dare to spend the night locked inside the store Halloween night. But they soon find out that the store is haunted by an angry evil spirit who has possessed the creepy animatronic characters. The kids will need to embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves.

There’s nothing wrong with the idea of setting an all-ages haunted house-style chase movie in a corny bulk retail store. The main thing holding back “Spirit Halloween: The Movie” is that its young stars never get to convincingly act their age.

Spirit Halloween: The Movie is a pleasant surprise that’s fun for the whole family. It’s a fine film that’s more throwback to when we were kids than most of the grating PG-13 gateway films that have dropped over the last few years.

Not only is the action tepid, it only takes up the last act of the movie. The rest of the running time is occupied by whiny dithering over juvenile social dilemmas that are hoary in the extreme.

Finally my favorite licensed Spirit Halloween characters on the silver screen! It was everything I hoped it would be. If youre going for a horror movie, this isnt it. If youre going for a cheaper Goonies with some with Christopher Lloyd in his breakout role as Alex Windsor for 14, this is it! Ngl, I had so much fun. It leaned into itself just the right amount. The tickets werent ridiculously priced and it was a great experience.

Me and my kids 13,11,6 and 4 all enjoyed this. Plenty of fun jump scares and enough stuff for them to relate with. Especially after visiting the stores in real life. Cant wait to buy it for home viewing.

If you go into this movie thinking it’s going to be an instant cult classic, you’ll find yourself very dissatisfied and disappointed. My 4 year old son loves the Spirit Halloween stores and we felt that all the trailers gave “Goosebumps” vibes. It succeeded in that category. It was very much a kid friendly spooky tale. Watching my son see the animatronics “come to life” and keep him occupied for 80ish minutes was enough to solidify this movie for me.
