Jodi (Ava Michelle) has always been the tallest girl in school -- and she's always been uncomfortable with it. After slouching her way through life for 16 years and being made fun of by classmates, Jodi meets Stig (Luke Eisner), a seemingly perfect Swedish foreign exchange student who's even taller than she is. Jodi's new crush turns her world upside down and throws her into a surprising love triangle, but with the help of her two best friends (Griffin Gluck, Anjelika Washington) as well as her beauty queen sister Harper (Sabrina Carpenter), Jodi comes to realize that she's far more than her insecurities about her appearance have led her to believe. TALL GIRL, director Nzingha Stewart's first feature film, is a heartfelt and hilarious coming-of-age story about finding the confidence to stop slouching and stand tall.

Jodi is just a shallow girl and her height is ironically her entire personality throughout the movie. The movie falls so flat. I love that 'Brina was in it, but even someone as vibrant as her was rendered lifeless by the plot. Jodi just wants a taller guy and goes for the only schmuck who fits the criteria. Frankly, she does not deserve to breathe the same air as Dunkleman. What a sloppy speech (totally uninvited and uninteresting—just get off the stage, Taller Swift), and a tragic ending—alas!

Pur partendo da un presupposto interessante ed originale come il disagio di una ragazza dovuto alla sua importante altezza, questa commedia finisce ben presto per essere un involucro di incredibili banalità tra rapporti, dialoghi e disagi prevedibili. Gli unici aspetti che parzialmente provano a salvare il risultato sono il sottile strato di ironia che talvolta esce e appunto l'intuizione che sta alla base del film. Troppo poco per creare un prodotto che si possa considerare buono.

Seeing how Ava has blossomed since watching her in Dance Mom’s years ago, was so surprising. She experienced some abuse from Abby Lee who attacked her body image and it was very sad. But she has become a beautiful confident young lady with a healthy body image now and who frankly is a good actress. The story was delightful - a coming of age movie and I’m looking forward to Part II. Good job, Ava!

I grew up in 80’s and my teen romance comedies consisted of Sixteen Candles, Lucas, and The Breakfast Club to cite a few. I enjoyed Tall Girl and was pleasantly surprised as the characters, story, and acting were on point w/ moving scenes and relatable outcomes of the classics that I grew up with. Surprised that it got such a low rating, but I’m here to say it’s worth a watch with your teen.

I REALLY enjoyed this movie. Several laugh out loud parts and a touching ending. I was hesitant to watch it, given the low ratings, but after watching it with my daughter, we both couldn't believe it got low ratings. I would even want to see it again soon and would want to own it.
