Hidden inside a smartphone, the bustling city of Textopolis is home to all emojis. Each emoji has only one facial expression, except for Gene, an exuberant emoji with multiple expressions. Determined to become "normal" like the other emojis, Gene enlists the help of his best friend Hi-5 and a notorious code breaker called Jailbreak. During their travels through the other apps, the three emojis discover a great danger that could threaten their phone's very existence.

Someone in an sony pitch meeting thought what if we make an movie about emoji's with T.J Miller as the main character and James Corden as the annoying side character Someone thought that would be a good movie and we as an society let that happened

This is a great movie to make your baby cry, if you prefer that kind of thing, but your children will have fun picking apart all the logical inconsistencies and truly baffling b-plots. Most of the technology references are out of touch; when the mother character entered YouTube, in the background there was a video of…frosting…?…like, being continuously dumped onto more frosting…? The evil robots got addicted to YouTube, but the video they were watching was a costumed man dancing for like three hours. Me, personally, I was laughing out loud the entire time but felt extremely bad for the main character, Gene…what a horrible existence.
