See more HILLARY M @RT31473675 Dec 21, 2024 An absolute delight. This road movie takes you on an emotional and at times fun journey. Pauline Collins will tug at your heart and Joan Collins is enchanting. These two ladies of a certain age bring it and it’s worth every second. See more Douglas B @RT16771544 Apr 25, 2023 It true that there is nothing new here. Two women (this time elderly) embark on an adventure that teaches them they have settled for i filled lives and there is more out in the world. We have seen this before, especially in films like "Shirley Valentine" that dis it better. The secret sauce to this movie is Joan Collins and Pauline Collins (Shirley Valentine herself). This is probably Joan Collins best performance of her career. She allows us to see her stripped down and fully vulnerable. Pauline Collins plays a woman who has lead a miserable life after the accidental death of her and the unyielding blame of her husband. When Helen (Joan) and Priscilla (Pauline) meet, Priscilla's husband is berating her for wanting to purchase some fancy biscuits. Through a misunderstanding, Priscilla joins Helen on an adventure and the realization of what they wasted, but also what is still ahead of them. Both women give extraordinary performances that make this movie worthwhile. If you liked "Educating Rita" and "Shirley Valentine", you will like "The Times of Their Lives". It may be the end when I could see the potential for a friendship between the two women. It works after Priscilla leaves frank and Helen is rejected by her daughter Lucy. Joan's character must have been written for her as you can't see anyone (except maybe Joanna Lumley) making such a good job of it. Certainly anyone over 60 should love it.
