The young cast gave impressive performances, and this could have been a good film. However, it fell flat. The scares were almost comically bad in some parts, and the whole time you'll think "that wouldn't happen, they wouldn't do that, no one would respond that way" etc. If this had been by a fresh writer director on a first project, this would be OK. From Shaymalan... it's woeful. Not that his past 30 films have been any good, but yikes.

I love this movie and am shocked the ratings aren't higher. This film has a unique storyline, loveable archetypes, genuinely scary scenes, and comedic relief that may be campy at times but comes naturally with the characters. This movie is terrifying and delightful and has replayability because its so much fun.

M really reminded everybody what a twist should be with the visit. The twist doesnt just exist solely for changing what happened, it plays into what you have seen. It doesnt leave you with a random change in plot, but a plot twist that makes you think "I should have known that!"
