Ralph Fiennes's exquisite performance of T. S. Eliot's poetic masterpiece is dynamically translated from stage to screen by director Sophie Fiennes (Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami, The Pervert's Guide to Ideology). During the early days of COVID, the Oscar® nominee set himself the challenge of committing Four Quartets to memory, and in 2021 he brought it to the London stage followed by a tour of theaters across the UK. Written by Nobel Prize winner Eliot in the shadow of the Second World War, the poem is a searching examination of who -- and what -- we are. This celebrated meditation on human experience, time, and the divine offers up questions, imagery, and emotions that bear a powerful relevance to our present day.

A meditation on time, loss, and connection, and almost a century later, those themes are just as vital as they were when Eliot wrote them. Go to Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times May 25, 2023
Four Quartets is a multi-course feast of concentrated flavors: mesmerizing language, masterly invocation, and the kind of poetic imagery that in the hands of a great actor feels like a direct line from Eliot’s pen to our mind’s landscape. Go to Full Review Teo Bugbee New York Times Apr 27, 2023
Fiennes brings the fire, yet the air around him remains unmoved, even by his embers. Go to Full Review Alex Heeney Seventh Row Jul 31, 2023
Four Quartets is neither live theatre capture nor a full adaptation of the play. Instead, Fiennes remarkably documents the theatre production on screen, maintaining all the original lighting and blocking. Go to Full Review Manuel Betancourt FilmWeek (LAist) Jun 6, 2023
It's really engrossing if poetry read on stage is your thing. Go to Full Review Calan Panchoo Film Threat May 3, 2023

For those who can gather the patience, it is a reminder of the wisdom Eliot so treasured, with all its overt Christian inspiration, birthed with such difficulty in the fires of war. Go to Full Review Read all reviews
