Several of the shorts build ingeniously, and their brevity solves the serial problem of found footage, which is how to maintain interest and plausibility in shaky-cam antics for a whole feature.

I really enjoy this movie, how it switches from a slowburn creep out to a ghost story to a slasher and so on. I think it is a great movie to get you into horror, it is a great movie to revisit, it is a great movie period.

Rated: 6.1/10 I wanted to revisit the gritty 2012 anthology that launched the indie franchise. I like this; the grimy aesthetic gives it a cursed vibe, even if the shorts are a mixed bag. The Director's Eye (What Worked): • The lo-fi tracking glitches make it feel like a forbidden tape. • “Amateur Night” and “10/31/98” drop you straight into panicked chaos. • The wraparound story with the static TVs sets a dreadful tone. The Friction (What Didn't Click for Me): • Every character is a toxic jerk, making it tough to care when they get picked off. • The middle segments, especially the Skype call, drag the pacing. The Verdict: I like it. Watch for chaotic found-footage. Skip if shaky cameras make you dizzy.

6.8/10 Fairly uneven, but still having the V/H/S anarchy, this first movie works well as a 'prototype' for what we would get from the next one and some of the other entries. I don't think it's as good as what fans make it out to be, but it's still fun.

Felt like I was about to get car sick the entire time, but honestly, the most terrifying part wasn't the found-footage it was realizing men are actually like that in real life.
