Unfortunately, the more "real" the movie tries to make everything appear, the harder it becomes to ignore that the necessity to their falling in love isn't particularly romantic Go to Full Review

Its misguided attempts to secure Best Original Song nominations bloat like a puffer fish, turning a swift 90-minute movie into a cumbersome two-hour snoozefest. Go to Full Review

Imitation, emulation, and homage are all part of that process, but so is reappraisal and reinterpretation. Those later two actions are what drive this new fantasy film to soaring and successful heights. Go to Full Review

Rather than going back to the original fairy tale by Mme. Leprince de Beaumont and reenvisioning it, the film reformats the studios cherished animated original with actors and computer-animated special FX. It's less a remake than a replication. Go to Full Review

See more Bryan A. @Timmaryturner 1d Belle's Magical World (1998) is a direct-to-video animated film from Disney, set within the timeline of the original Beauty and the Beast, featuring three interconnected stories about the castle's inhabitants trying to get along, with a fourth segment added in a later special edition. It stars the original voice cast, including Paige O'Hara as Belle and Robby Benson as the Beast, and was created from episodes of a failed TV series. The film is known for its lower production quality compared to theatrical releases but is considered a worthy, if flawed, addition to the franchise by some fans. It largely succeeds in recreating the magic of the animated classic in a new format. The production design is easily one of its biggest strengths. The castle, costumes, and overall CGI-enhanced world are richly detailed and give the film a polished, storybook feel that fits the tone perfectly. The musical numbers are still enjoyable and familiar, with a few updated touches that help them feel fresh without losing the original charm. The performances also do a good job of keeping the emotional core intact. Overall, it’s a very good remake that doesn’t reinvent the wheel but delivers a heartfelt and visually appealing experience. I’d rate it a 7/10 for its style, music, and faithful approach. See more Read all reviews
