Not the reunion between Lau and Leung that fans might have been craving, nor the decadent deep-dive into Hong Kong’s boom-time that the film could and should have been. Go to Full Review

This has the brash swagger of The Wolf of Wall Street, but the labyrinthine intricacies of the case may present something of a challenge to anyone not well versed in stock market manipulation. Go to Full Review

Chong displays a confused and maximalist approach to film-making, throwing everything at the screen, including different film styles, stocks and interstitial musical montages, in the vain hope that kinetic energy might be mistaken for dramatic power. Go to Full Review

The Goldfinch is dripping with sentimentality, twee visuals and ponderous emotive pull, but is short on logic, a strong narrative and believability. Go to Full Review

ALVIN H 01/10/2024 Entertaining Hong Kong movie about the excesses of wealth of 1980s Hong Kong and the manipulation of the stock market. A great reunion of HK’s Andy Lau and Tony Leung since 2000s Infernal Affairs! See more from HK 01/09/2024 Good Story, Love the actors and actresses See more T W 01/05/2024 Stylish, occasionally fun, clearly inspired by the Wolf of Wall Street See more xue 12/31/2023 Always the best two actor gods! See more Venterdino B @Venterdino 3h I think this film needs to be watched at home, not in a theatre, coz otherwise it’s hard to understand how the fraud happens as one needs to pause the film & think but in a movie it doesn’t allow one to. This film is highly sexualised, as it shows Chen using women to bribe two men. It’s unsuitable for children below the age of 21. I enjoyed the drama, acting & the visuals though, but some parts don’t make sense and I believe isn’t what happened in real life, so it’s not a documentary. See more Hao Ian L @HaOiAn 12/21/2024 Chong's maximalist, in-your-face approach to telling a criminal conspiracy story such as The Goldfinger may score itself some style points, but ends up doing more harm than good with how overwhelming and overwhelming it can feel.
