It might be of some interest for the presence of a sadly slightly frail-looking Morgan Freeman, but is nothing else than evidence of a brilliant career guttering out. An absolute dandelion clock of a movie.

This shockingly bad murder "mystery" centers on people who commit crimes, confess them too soon and to the wrong people, then do the same again, with no plan for how not to get caught. (Not very bright, are they?)

A really cool souther gothic style drama. Lots of twists and turns. The film overall is a dark, lyrical, song of the south. Like an Appalachian wail, chorused by a haunting set of strings, where the lyrics slap you in the face with tragedy. I really enjoyed it. Powerfull performances by Jaimie Alexander. She stole the show, imo. Finally a film with no Superheroes!!

Well, what I can say is that the twists and terms in this movie were certainly a means to an end of pure greed. They were all plotting against each other to get their hands on a check that wasn't even theirs to begin with. Although it was unlike any of his other movies, i'm glad morgan freeman was the sheriff in this movie but his 1 mistake of discussing his findings with a civilian backfired forcing Cole hauser to go rogue. A lot of twists and turns, but I am very glad that the girl who started the entire mess never got her check... 🤗

THE MINUTE YOU WAKE UP DEAD is a sharp and shifty film with, occasionally jarring plot twists and turns, that kept me hooked. Morgan ’God’ Freeman’s small-town sheriff is eminently likeable, and Jaimie ‘Lady Sif’ Alexander is great as the femme fatale, with shades of Lara Flynne Boyle, and The Last Seduction’s Linda Fiorentino. THE MINUTE YOU WAKE UP DEAD is more than a tad OTT at times and throws in everything including the kitchen sink but it’s a hell of a lot of fun. It turns out it was directed and co-written by Norman Mailer’s son Michael. Which is nice.

This should’ve been filed under comedy. The best scenes were the three dumb knuckleheads and their scenes together. A must see by any stretch of the imagination.
