Major Crimes captain Park Kang-yoon (Cho Jin-woong) receives special funding to carry out his investigations and lives the life of luxury with fancy sedan, high-end condo, designer suits and accessories. A rookie named Min-jae (Choi Woo-shik) joins his unit, who happens to be very by the book. The pair becomes close as they begin investigating a new type of street drug, but Kang-yoon finds out that there is a mole within his unit, who has been compiling a case against him. As Min-jae is shown into the shady world of slush funds being used on cops, he is exposed to a secret organization within the ranks....

Incorporating the better elements of American good cop/bad cop movies and the 2002 Hong Kong masterpiece “Infernal Affairs” (remade by Martin Scorsese in 2006 as “The Departed”), “The Policeman’s Lineage” keeps the viewer guessing for the duration. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

He has principles unlike his boss Park Gang-Yoon, the chief of an investigation team who may have an unrivaled arrest record but has no problem using corrupt methods. Can these two cops co-exist and tackle a case that could destroy their entire department? Based on the Japanese novel Blood of the Policeman by Joh Sasaki, this is currently the fourth biggest movie to be released in South Korea this year. Choi Min-jae is a third generation police officer who dreams of serving the law in the same way that his grandfather and late father did. In order to receive a secret document about his father, he accepts a mission from internal affairs to monitor Park Gang-Yoon. Par wants to capture Na-young Bin (Kwon Yul), a CEO supplying drugs to the elite and a man whose cash and connections have kept him out of prison three times. To make things worse, he rubs it in Park's face, who wants to bring him in no matter what. I've never seen a Korean cop film before. I love that the world has brought us closer so that we can experience one another's cultures and see how we are the same and how we're also different.
